The Network Access setting has two components to it which can let PBworks Admins control who has access to the network.

Trusted Email Domains

Trusted email domains allow for a much easier roll-out of your network across your entire team.  Rather than one PBworks Admin determining access, a trusted domain could be set which allows anyone with a valid email address from the domain to be added with no action needed on the network administrator's part.

If you want to trust multiple domains, simply list them in order, one on each line.   Please note that this will allow all users with an email address from the domain to add themselves as a network user on your network.  PBworks Admins are responsible for their network's seat count, shown in the Subscription setting, and licensing in Business Edition is paid for on a per-seat basis.

Remember to click "Save" to save your Trusted Domain list.

With trusted email domains enabled, a user simply needs to click on the "Join this network" link in the lower portion of the login page to register themselves on the network.  This link will not show unless you have at least one domain listed in this setting.

When a user clicks the "Join this network" link, they'll be taken to a form where they will enter in their email address.  If the email address submitted in this form has a domain that matches one of the  trusted email domains, the user will be sent an email with a confirmation link they can click to set up their account on the network.  This will add the user as a regular network user, meaning they will be able to log in to the network, join workspaces that are available, and create new workspaces.  Network administrators are responsible for maintaining the network's seat count, and expansions will eventually need to be paid for through licensing.

Single Sign-On

Single sign-on is a way for managers of a company's local information systems to easily integrate their authentication system directly into PBworks.  With single sign-on, end users will never have to log in with a username and password, because the user is already authenticated through an authentication system that is managed by the company.

If you've never had to supply an email address or password to PBworks, then most likely your organization already uses single sign-on.  If your network uses single sign-on and you find yourself locked out of PBworks, then you should first contact your local IT administrator immediately about the problem.  Most likely, the cause is something that only your IT department will be able to address.

If you are an IT administrator, the SSO key is listed under the "Network Access" are  in your network's settings.  This is not available for a single workspace, and it can only be set up for an entire network.  If you don't have access to the network settings, then you are not a network admin on PBworks.  Only PBworks Admins can set up this kind of access for their users.

IP Restrictions

IP restriction can be used to increase the security of a network. The IP whitelist allows only computers logging in from a listed IP address to log in to the network.  The IP blacklist allows you to completely bar access.  Please be careful with which IP addresses you set, as you can lock yourself out of your network if this is set incorrectly.  If your company does not own a static IP address, then you should not use this setting.

Additionally, the service can only whitelist or blacklist external IP addresses (these are the only IP addresses seen by PBworks).  Internal IP addresses (example: 10.51.50.1) are used internally on local networks and should not be referenced in this setting.
