If the search results you're given list many different types of content on the network, you're given the option to filter based on the type of content on the left hand side. For example, if you're unsure where a specific file is, but you know for sure it's a file, perform a search for it and then click the "File" option to limit the results just to files. If there are no results from a certain type, the option to filter by it will not appear.
In the example below, the John Smith filter has already been applied to the search result, and 36 pages, 1 task, and 1 workspace match the query and were last edited by John Smith. By clicking on "Page" or "Workspace" you can further narrow the search results, to list only pages last edited by John Smith that match the query.
As you click each filter, the filter appears in the left list, with less options to filter down. In this example, the query for "FronPage" is being searched for. Only pages that are on the "Company Space" workspace AND last edited by John Smith are being shown to the user.
If you make a mistake, and want to expand the results, click the small "X" next to each filter. This will remove the filter, and the number of results will expand to include only the other filters. You can also start over by clicking "Clear all filters".
You also have the option of including archived workspaces in your search results. Unless you mark the "Show Archived" box, the results from these workspaces are excluded by default.
