About

PBworks Gallery View is an option that all users can use to view content in an different format than simply a flat sorted list.  The same set of security and rules applies in this view, and so only content the user can see in the regular list view will be shown in the gallery view.

A gallery view of files can also be embedded on a page by using the Folder Contents plugin, and choosing the "Gallery View" option.

Tip:  To display a gallery on a page, use the "Folder Contents" plugin, and set the list format to Gallery View.

Activating Gallery View

Gallery View can be activated by clicking the tile icon in the upper right corner of the file list page, next to the "+New" button:

Sorting items

Items in Gallery view can be sorted by Name, Type, and when the item was last changed.

Item Information

When you place your mouse over any single item in this view, an information card about the item appears.  This same card is also presented in the standard list mode, when you place your mouse over the item.

If the item has no preview available, such as a folder or PDF that cannot be rendered, then the preview does not include the elements that are not available.  This card is intended only to be a preview, and so for more information, click on the name of the object inside the card.  The available actions on the card will be determined by the permission level of the logged in user.

Selecting items

Items in gallery view can be selected by clicking the checkboxes for the items in the lower left corner of each item.

When items are selected in the gallery view, the action buttons in the upper left become available, for the user to download, move, or delete the items, depending on their permission on the space.  Again, this functionality mirrors what is available when users view the file manager in the standard list view.
