Once a PBworks Admin has set up properties for workspaces in the network, setting the property for any workspace is easy for any user who has Moderator access to any single workspace.  You may only set workspace properties when your account has access to a single workspace.

  1. First, click the "New Property" button to set a property for the workspace.  If this button is grayed out, this means that all possible properties defined on the network have already been defined for the workspace.  While new properties can be added to the "Multiple Value" dropdown fields, no new properties are available to be defined.

Technical Note: Only the "Dropdown Field - Multiple Value" type of workspace property can handle multiple values for the same property.  While you can have multiple properties in one format (like two properties with a format of "Date"), you can only define a given property once per workspace. This limitation is part of the technical design, and makes the property value you set meaningful for the workspace.

A drop down will appear so you can select which property you want to add to the workspace.  Not all workspaces have to have all properties, or any properties, defined.  Click "OK" and the property will appear in the listing below the gray bar.

  2.  Once the property is on the workspace, you can define the value for the property.  Each type of property can only accept one kind of data, and so the value fields will be different based on the kind of data it is:

    Property Type
    Value Set
    Dropdown Field - Single Value
Click the field to select a single value from the  defined list.

    Dropdown Field - Multiple Value
Like the single value dropdown field, click the field to select a new value to be added to the value list.  Click the "X" icons to remove values from being selected.

    Text
Type any text into the field.

    Number

Type an integer value into the field.

    Date

Click the field and select the date from the calendar that appears.

    User

Type the name of the user in the field, and click their name when it appears.

  3. Finally, click "Save" to save the property settings.  You can click and drag the "Move" icon next to the field to reorder the workspace properties.  This impacts the order the properties appear in on the information card for the workspace.
